Types of Materials
Mild Steel
Mild Steel is the cheapest form of metal screen but will usually need to be powder coated or painted to protect it from rusting. In highly corrosive environments mild steel and powder coating is not recommended as any scratching or chipping of the powder coating can lead to rusting and damaging to screens.
Aluminium
Aluminium can be used for external surfaces but can fade over time and pit in a highly corrosive environment. It can be anodised in various colours and can also be powder coated. Because of its light weight properties it is popular for wall hanging screens and the manufacturing of gates etc.
Coreten
Coreten is a very popular type of mild steel used in architectural buildings and screen work that has a rusted look but will last for many years. This is achieved by a protective coating forming on the exterior surface and preventing further corrosion, Once the desired weathering is achieved it can be coated to avoid any staining.
Coreten is also very low maintenance as it needs no cleaning, it can be used for a variety of applications including screening products, wall art and lighting products.
Stainless Steel
Hydrolaser Cut mainly uses two different grades of Stainless Steel, depending on the application.
Both grades can come in a standard a brushed finished similar to fridges and benchtops or mirror finish that is highly reflective.
